Rudolph Nureyev was a preeminent ballet dancer and choreographer, often described as "ballet's first pop icon." He defected from the Soviet Union in 1961, becoming a media sensation in the West. This collection contains materials related to Soviet ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev, 1938-1993. Nureyev gained considerable fame in the West after defecting from the Soviet Union in 1961.
