Denys McCoy Audiovisual Collection
Content Description
Denys McCoy (b. 1938) is the son and eldest child of John and Ann Wyeth McCoy. He was a filmmaker (probably best known for “The Last Rebel” (1971) starring famed football player Joe Namath) and this collection includes various iterations of films by him that pertain to Chadds Ford and the Wyeth family. It includes: “The Last Escape of Billy the Kid,” and “Johnny I Hardly Knew You – 1864,” and others that are documentaries of the Wyeth family such as “The Port,” “Island Funeral,” “An American Memory,” The Natural Thing to Do-the Music of Ann Wyeth McCoy,” and a film of the Kennett Symphony performing Ann McCoy’s compositions. There are also films of the family in Maine in the early 1960s; “Andy’s Mill at Thanksgiving”; as well as McCoy’s capture and recording of early Wyeth family films from the 1920s and 1930s. There are different formats from film on reels with separate soundtracks, to videos, betas, CDs and DVDs.
